2013 is movies sequel year of Bollywood

For the sequels of Bollywood films, 2013 proved best. The concept of sequels is getting more fame with the passage of time but 2013 could be called as year of sequel films. The concept of sequels started in 2010. “Golmaal 3” made good business in Bollywood in 2010. In 2011, “Mother 2”, “Don 2” and “Double Dhamaal” make good business. In 2012, “Dabangg 2”, “Housefull 2”, “Jannat 2”, “Jism 2” etc also performed well and introduced 100 crore club in box office. 2013 is known as the year of sequels from the beginning. “Race 2”, which released on 25^th Jan, made window breaking records and done good business. The film was directed by Abbas-Mastan and starring Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor in their previous characters of “Race” while Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel were new introduction in the sequel. “Aashiqui 2” released on 26^th April 2013. Though the story was not impressive but its songs made it popular. It was the sequel of 1991 blockbuster “Aashiqui”, while Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur were introduced in lead roles. The chemistry between these two actors made the movie so popular that it ranked in the 100 crore club. It was directed by Mohit Suri. Film “Grand Masti” released on 13^th Sep 2013, directed by Indra Kumar. It was the sequel of 2004 comedy film “Masti”. Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shevdasani and Riteish Deshmukh were the main actors. This film also entered the 100 crore club. “Krrish 3” released on Diwali. It achieved the business of 200 crore. Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut performed the main characters of movie. “Dhoom 3” was released on 20^th Dec 2013. There are many opinions about that film. But so far, this film has broken all the records of sequels. “Dhoom 3” made the business of 70 crore in first two days, which is a record. Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra are present in its cast. Apart from these, few film sequels could not perform well. These included; “Yamla Pagla Deewana”, ”Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara”, “Satya 2”, “Murder 3” and “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns”.
