At the Crossover international hiring tournament, six Pakistanis managed to get jobs.
In this gaming competition, total 61 programmers from Punjab and Sindh participated out of which 6 were successful to achieve USD 100,000 per annum. Before that, total number of registered candidates for this competitor across the country was more than 500.
CEO of Crossover, Andy Tryba, said that their plan is to run such tournaments in Islamabad and Karachi also after the successful experiment in Lahore after which they are hoping to get more than 200 senior software architect in Pakistan that would help to bring employment in Pakistan with worth of $20 million per year.
National Freelancing Convention Held at PITB
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Crossover jointly organized the first National Freelancing Convention #NFC17 that was organized at PITB. The convention was attended by around 500 applicants in which they took part in competition of three rounds. In the end, a technical interview was held after which Crossover offered on the spot job to the successful candidates.
In a single day, six Chief Architects in Java and Ruby were hired by Crossover which is a top work from home company. A full time job offer with $100,000 pay per year was given to the candidates passing technical interviews.
The champion of the tournament was given the winning bonus of $5,000 by the company. Prior to Pakistan, this concept has successfully been tested in Turkey, Romania, Russia, Ukraine and Poland by Crossover.
CM Punjab Congratulates the Organizers
M Shahbaz Sharif, CM Punjab, admired Crossover for organizing such event and he was hopeful about boosting of Pakistani economy with such events. Dr. Umar Saif, chairman PITB, said that people around the globe are getting jobs with technology while important role in this aspect is played by freelancing companies and small businesses.
