Minister of State for IT conducted the meeting with multi stakeholders with the president of Alibaba Group and they laid down the initiatives and the policy measures, which will be undertaken by the government in order to support them to enable the broad based digital ecosystem across the country.
The main focus on getting the full value chain digitization of economy so that they can get tremendous dividends and the situation is ready to exploit the potential of digital infrastructure to enable e-commerce and digital payments in business to business (B2B) and retail markets. The Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba has one of the biggest market shares on the basis of consumer to consumer, business to consumer and business to business sales services with e-commerce web portals. The high level delegation of Ali Baba is on the two day visit to Pakistan and they discuss and explore the opportunities for making investment in E-commerce space in the country.
The MoIT, NADRA and Karandaz have given the detailed presentations on the different segments. Mr. Michael Evans is the president of Ali Baba Group and he led the delegation to visit to Pakistan and this is the group, which is pursuing the diligence process aggressively to set up their e-commerce and digital payments services in the country and step in the highly potential market. The head of the delegation showed his confidence in ICT policy and infrastructure for e-commerce market and digital payments in Pakistan.
The secretary (IT & Telecom), additional secretary (Finance), Chairman PTA, representative of State Bank of Pakistan, Joint Secretary (Implementation – PM Office), Member (IT), Member (HRD), Member (Legal), Member (Telecom) of MoIT, CEO Karandaz, CEO Mobilink, heads of the Mobile companies, representative of Ministry of Commerce and other seniopr officers of public and private sector department were also present during this meeting with the president of Ali Baba group for setting up the e-commerce digital payment services in Pakistan.
