Ever since the Linux-based operating system Android was released publically in Sep 2008, dozens of researches and proclamations had been published to profess that for Smart phones, Android is not a secure platform.
Despite the fact that Play Store has over 1 million malware apps, Google now claimed that Android is more secure than any other platform, include iOS.

At Berlin’s Virus Bulletin conference, Google Android’s Security chief Adrian Ludwig, researcher Eric Davis and Jon Larimer laid out the engaging report, called “Android – realistic security from the ground up”.
According to Ludwig, the number of malware that actively strive to dodge runtime security checks is just 0.001% of installed apps, while number of apps that really provoke harm are even less than that.
Evidently Google gathered data from apps that were installed outside the Play Store and where the possibility of worms and malware is much eminent.

Google secured credible evidence that the proportion of “potentially harmful apps” installed is about 0.12%, based on the data collected from 1.5 billion app installed from outside.

But these Google statistics are determined from Android devices that have Google Play Store installed, with ‘Verify Apps’ feature. From the smart phones and tablets not been authorized to run Google Play services especially those manufactured in China, no data had been collected.
