The banking sector has the total deposits of Rs.14.46 trillion, which is the historic high during its history, which has been done at the end of the fiscal year June FY 19. Bank Deposits at Its Peak of Rs 14.46 Trillion.

State Bank of Pakistan has updated the data and the total deposits of the banks have shown the healthy growth of 10.68 % or Rs.1.395 trillion in FY 19 and it has reached to all time high level of Rs.14.46 trillion on 30 June 2019, which you can compare with Rs.13.062 trillion on 30 June 2018.

The most part of the growth in deposits was done during the month of June 2019 because of the amnesty scheme and the seasonal targets. The deposits were grown by Rs.998 billion or 7% on the month on month basis during June 2019 and it ranges from Rs.14.458 trillion up from Rs.13.46 trillion during May 2019. The deposits of the amount was built up and it was stemmed from Asset Declaration Scheme and the SBP has also carried out the registration of Rs.40,000 prize bonds.

It is estimated that 20% of the declared assets have been routed through the banking channels and the big portion of funds from Asset Declaration Scheme are likely to fall during the start of July because the scheme expired on 3 July 2019.

They said that the sustainability of the stocks remain in the banking system would be a question as after expiry of Asset Declaration Scheme funds will be withdrawn in the coming months. During the corresponding period of previous year, the investments declined by 7% YoY given the lower participation during the auctions of government securities, when you compare it to the scheduled maturities in FY 19. The investment to deposit ratio is slipped down to 53% by June 2019.

The growth pace has softened, when you compare it to the average 20% YoY growth in the outstanding lending portfolio during past two years.
