+

During search for a career, every person is anxious to know about writing a good CV for a right kind of job. The background of our job market is to professionals in more than one service. This makes it difficult for the candidate to write appropriate CV and they fails in getting their desired job.

Key Questions:

Due to this reason, both professionals and students ask about the way to write a CV that is helpful for them to get a job or what to add in an already written CV as CVs play the most important role to open the door of a job.

Questions like these come in mind when someone writes a CV.

  • What should come first?
  • What should come in the middle and how to end it?
  • Should we pad it to look thick, or keep it on one page?
  • What formats to be used?
  • Should there be an objective?
  • What about references?
  • What about career stories?

One Key For Many Doors:

You should know about your field and if you have experience in more than in professions then it’s better to have different CVs for all these areas separately.

The second important thing to know is that the HR of a company has their own likes, dislikes and importance about a CV and they shortlist CVs by keeping few things in mind which is difficult to know for a job seeker. Especially if you are sending a CV to a bank or multi-national company then your CV should be complete in every manner which is required for the job.

As a human being you are always eager to get every possible opportunity and impress the interviewer with your abilities but everything can’t be written on CVs and it is also important that what type of questions will be asked by the interviewer which also requires your luck.

Are We Doing It Right?

I started mu professional career several years ago and surely I applied for several jobs during this period and became part of interview several times. Like other people, I also organized several CVs during my career which shows my professional abilities and experience. These CVs include simple documents, PowerPoint presentation and CVs from my LinkedIn profile.

I edited my LinkedIn profile and rearrange it in to two CVs while both show two different experiences for me to apply for various jobs. The experiment proved successful and I was called for interviews several times. I also have a one page CV which summarizes my complete experience but this type of CV should only be send to those who want to know summarize version of your CV.

When Reality Strikes:

But later I acknowledged that I am having a wrong approach regarding my CV. It was because the HR told me on few occasions that it was too difficult for them to find my education, experience etc. as my CV was too lengthy.

It was surprising as I thought everything in my CV was well organized by headings and tables but the problem occurred due to too much detail in the CV. The CV was good for the person who shortlists the CVS as it shows that I have the required qualification and experience but it was not doing well during interview.

A New Approach:

Some time ago, I met a person present in the business of Quality Assurance. He gave me couple of hand written pages and asked me to type it on MS Word and then email him. The interesting thing in this CV was that the two pages of CV present every important detail in it. The CV was divided in four sections: personal information, educational experience, project experience and product experience.

Use Keywords and Annexure:

The section of personal experience was simple while all the other sections are divided with paragraphs of three to four lines in which the introduction was followed by keyword text that makes it easier for the people to understand. Later, each section was directing people to detail of that part through ‘Annexure’.

Example of an Annexure

Annexures are very important as they provide detailed information separate from the keyword which means that if HR wants to see the detail then he will move to the annexure. Otherwise, he will get the summarize information through keyword text.

Short, Simple Yet Detailed:

It is a perfect way for professionals to write their CV because the first two short pages are mainly required by every person and these pages also represent you in a nice manner including your educational and professional experience.

Short and Simple Does It

The most important thing is to write everything without getting common while presenting detaisl about experience, roles, projects, education and awards.
