The traffic rules have been changed and new rules have been implemented. When you jump a red light of traffic anywhere near a traffic camera, the picture of your car number plate will be made and it will be sent to the residential address with the ticket.
Now this new traffic system has been developed in Punjab and new traffic laws and rules have been approved. When any driver makes the traffic violation, these traffic violations will be recorded by camera. The government has introduced the new camera based ticketing system in Lahore, which is also working in Karachi. The chief minister has accorded the approval for the implementation of this new ticketing system.
Will Traffic Wardens Go Out of Commission?
All these areas, where adequate CCTV coverage is used with new system of traffic, the traffic police will be able to manage the flow of traffic in excellent way. This system is suitable and best for all those areas, where traffic wardens are not available all the time. The 24/7 camera working will be very efficient in keeping the violations of the traffic in check.
The traffic cameras will present the new challenges for the traffic authorities and they will not tamper the ticket, which is made by the dishonest elements in the department.
Pending Official Approval
There are still some hurdles in the new traffic laws and the Chief Minister of Punjab has to clear these hurdles. Punjab Assembly has to accord the approval for these new traffic laws.
When the new rules have been passed by the Punjab Assembly and they get the legislative form, then these cameras will be able to spot and they will find the trespassers. When these traffic rules start working in Lahore then they will be implemented in other cities of Punjab.
