According to Chinese state media report, the world’s largest radio telescope will start functioning in September as its final piece has fitted by the country. FAST is the name of this 500m-wide Aperture Spherical Telescope which is equal to 30 football fields.

According to media reports, $180m is the cost of this satellite project and its purpose is to look for extraterrestrial life in the outer space. China gives much importance to the advancement of its space program.

Deputy head of National Astronomical Observation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zheng Xiaonian told that the trial process of telescope will soon start by the scientists.

Currently, Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico is the largest telescope of world with 300m in diameter and it will be replaced by FAST.

China claimed that its agenda for space program is based on peaceful purposes but US Defense Department blames that China is using its space program to pressurize its opponents.

In 2018, China is expected to launch a ‘core module’ for its sole space station.
