National Institute of Health has warned that there are dangers of increase in the number of cases of Congo Fever on the occasion of Eid al Azha. Special precautions should be taken for prevention.

The National Institute of Health has said in its alert that citizens must wear clothes of light color with complete sleeves and close front along with shoes while visiting the cattle market. After returning, they should take bath and change their clothes. They should make it sure before purchasing animal of slaughter that it is free from ticks.

Gloves must be used during cooking and washing of slaughter meat and the meat should be fully cooked. People with biggest danger to be affected are butchers and those who accompany the affected persons.

Symptoms of Congo virus are high temperature, pain in back, muscles and neck, strain, nausea, red spots on body and bleeding from nose, gums and internal organs.

Congo virus spreads from a strange type of virus which is mainly present in ticks that are hiding in the hairs of lamb, goats, cows, camels etc. This virus becomes active when this tick bites a cattle or a human being. Congo virus can also be transported from blood, tissue or fluid of affected animal.
