So far, the electricity consumers in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have received 16 net-metering connections by Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and they have generated 1.66 MW for the supplier company. According to an IESCO spokesman, these connections were given this year while process is underway to grant connections on dozens of applications for net-metering connections.
According to CEO IESCO, net metering is an immediate and innovative solution to the current problem of power shortage. He added that the commercial and domestic customers can use the opportunity through this system to generate electricity through solar panels and earn by selling extra electricity to IESCO. He told that electricity from one KW to one MW can be generated through net metering by domestic and commercial consumers.
