Cyber Secure Pakistan 2014: Multi-Stakeholder Collaborations

With criminal networks coordinating complex attacks against targets in a matter of time and operating across the world, today’s cyber threats are becoming increasingly more sophisticated and targeted.
Cybercrime investigations are profoundly different in nature than the traditional crimes due to the complexity of the cyber-threat landscape, and require large-scale cross-jurisdictional investigations and high-level technical expertise.
For many of us, recent invasion of privacy, surveillance controversy, espionage on corporate sector, rise in cybercrimes and shady censorship policies in Pakistan are eye openers. Along with some many other relevant questions that needs attention by authorities and relevant strake-holders alike, few questions pop up in every thinking mind. How are we reverting to cyber threats? What is happening on our cyber fronts? How are we collaborating with other CERTs and countries? How are we protecting our Critical Network Infrastructure?
To effectively combat threats and eventually enhance digital security, it is essential that build cross-jurisdictional and cross sectorial collaboration and law enforcement prioritize resources are required in addition to developing the technical expertise, infrastructure and tools.
To highlight this much needed topic of Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration for Combating Cyber Crimes, Pakistan Information Security Association (PISA) has been working for the last many years in response. With multi-stakeholders including academia, government organizations, Internet security specialists from public and private sector and law enforcement agencies, PISA will seek to implement an alliance to leverage their resources and respective expertise for fighting cybercrimes.
