Decision for Outsourcing of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi Airports

The federal government has decided to outsource New Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad, Quaid e Azam Airport Karachi and Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore to well reputed international companies in order to improve facilities and performance of various departments.

The sources of aviation division told that tenders will be released on international level in few days for this purpose after which airport handling companies will be invited. The tender will be awarded to the company with highest bid in auction.

A senior officer of aviation division told that these airports will be outsourced for 30 years each but the traffic control and security system on airports will remain solely to CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and ASF (airport security force) while the company that will operate the airport after winning the tender will be given responsibility for passenger handling, cleaning, duty free shops, refreshment areas, outlets and other such departments.
