Disposable Drones for Information About Hurricanes

Despite severe destruction by hurricanes, we know very little about them. But now the experts are planning to put hundreds of small drones directly inside these hurricanes to know about the secrets of them.

These drones are named “close-in covert autonomous disposable aircraft” (CICADA) and they can be used just once. These paper-like drones can also be called flying circuit board. These drones will be controlled by GPS and they will research directly from inside of the hurricanes.

Several models of these micro-drones have been established in the research laboratory of US Navy (NRL). The arms of these drones are flat and smooth and they can be place on each other like bundles of paper. They can be inserted to a hurricane through a high flying plane and they will be able to send information of their part after scattering immediately.

After coming outside from plane, these drones will move ahead 1 meter after going 1 feet below and weight of every drone is just 35 gram. There are GPS system, transmitter and sensors in this small plane that will transfer data to central headquarter immediately. The cost of single drone is Rs. 25,000.

For experimental purpose, 32 drones are sent from the height of 8.000 feet while they can also be thrown by using special balloons.

Meteorologists have declared this invention as important that will enable us to research on hurricanes and tornados
