Drug Addicted Students (53%) in Private Schools

It was told in a report presented to a meeting of senate committee that from 44% to 53% students of private schools of Islamabad are addicted to drugs.

The report mentions that teachers or colleagues of addicted students provide them drugs. The committee has demanded complete report by related departments in 15 days and also called IG, home secretary and chief secretary.

In private schools of Islamabad, more than 50% students uses drugs in the schools openly. The drugs are also use by students just 8 years old. These drugs are easily available from hawkers and school canteen. Several members of committee were surprised to see this report.

said that more than 10 million people of Pakistan are addicted to drugs and now institutes of Islamabad are also facing this problem. It is a bigger problem than terrorism and now every school will have to provide ‘drug free certificate’.
