Each Hajj Pilgrim Will Get a Personal Tracker This Year

+

Ministry of Religious Affairs Pakistan will now use trackers to keep themselves aware about the movement of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims. The Hajj pilgrims will wear these trackers in order to help the authorities to know their whereabouts.

In 2015, more than 2000 pilgrims died and several more injured due to Mina stampede. Among these, there were more than 300 killed or missing Pakistani pilgrims. It is known as the worst accident during Hajj pilgrimage. Now Govt. wants to prevent any such incident to happen again while the incident of ‘missing person’ problem can easily be solved through this system.

The ministry selected a company for trackers from the three companies it contacted. But there is nothing mention by the government about the real cost or the subsidy (if there is any) of these trackers. According to initial information, Rs. 7000 increase will be made in the package of all the Hajj travelers.

For monitoring of location, the pilgrims can attach the trackers to their bracelets, lockets etc. People can easily be traced in case of stampede due to modern technology. A centrally controlled monitoring system in both cities of Saudi Arabia will connect all the trackers that will remain active throughout the Hajj process. Authorities will get information through sensors in the trackers.

In replying a question, the minister Sardar Yusuf told that the residence of every pilgrim will be within 500 meters of the holy places present in Makkah and Madinah.

Govt. has also set a helpline for pilgrims and their relatives for any question about Hajj.
