+

YouTube faced the Logan Paul controversy for not vetting the content on the website. When the advertisers started appearing with improper and flagged content, it lost the trust of YouTube and the situation became worse. Now Google has raised the bar for the monetization policy of YouTube through the strict regulations.

Revised Monetization Policy

If the users want to qualify for YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and earn money, they need to follow the criteria to be fulfilled:

  • The channel must have more than 1000 subscribers.
  • Total watching time must be more than 4000 in previous 12 months.

According to the new regulation, any account, which violates the YouTube community guidelines 3 times, they will be removed automatically. A channel needed only 10,000 views to become eligible for monetization and participating in YPP.

Transparency and manual Reviews

The new policy of Google depicts that it will also review the video manually by including the human reviewers in this process. They will observe the videos in Preferred Creators program of Google, which is accessible to top video makers only. Google is working with trusted vendors in order to offer the third party brand safety and increase the transparency. This program is now in the beta phase and it will ensure that the content of the advertisement is displayed at the right place. All of the new and old channels will follow the new policy, which will be implemented from 20 February 2018.
