Gulf Countries for Pakistani Job Seekers

Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates still provide major job opportunities to Pakistanis seeking job abroad. Though, the demand of highly skilled workers has increased but even then Pakistanis are getting job relatively easily in these countries.

Last year, 947718 workers took job outside Pakistan out of which 55.17% (522,932) got jobs in Saudi Arabia while 34.5% (326,995) were greeted in UAE. It means that total 90% of the Pakistanis got jobs in these two Arab countries alone.

Statistics show that in developed countries like UK and USA, it is difficult for Pakistani workers to get jobs. Now Pakistani workers are even finding jobs in Africa also.

But it is also a fact that Saudi economy is facing problems due to less income from petroleum products but even then it is providing opportunities for Pakistani workers to job. Apart from the above two mentioned countries, Malaysia (20218), Qatar (12751) and Bahrain (9048) are the main job providing countries for Pakistanis.

There are Pakistani workers found jobs this year in double digits in countries like Yemen, Somalia, Uganda, Nigeria, Libya, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Sudan, Germany, Hong Kong, Sweden Turkey and others. There are 500 Pakistanis currently acquired jobs in Cyprus, 355 in China, 431 in Italy, 140 in South Africa, 734 in South Korea, 261 in UK and 350 in USA.

According to famous workers’ rights activist Habibuddin, Pakistanis started getting jobs in Gulf countries in 1970s during which several unskilled workers got employment in countries, like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE. But Pakistanis could not get jobs in countries like UK and USA due to their demand of highly skilled workers. But now Pakistanis may face problems in Arab countries also due to consistent decline in oil prices.
