National Assembly’s cabinet committee declared NTS as a fraud run by a mafia some time ago after which Higher Education Commission (HEC) started work to replace the service with a more reliable and transparent organization.
As promised by HEC, the Education Testing Council (ETC) has been launched now in which the membership include two VCs from private sector universities, four VCs from public sector universities, two civil society members and two officers from HEC.
In the start, ETC will only conduct tests and exams for undergraduate admissions while acting as an independent council. ETC test will be valid for two years and it will be conducted twice in a year. Chairman HEC also claimed that admission tests by ETC will be adopted by all the public and private universities.
Apart from admissions in the universities, the tests conducted by ETC can also be used for scholarships along with getting employment in several international and national agencies including HEC. ETC will be headed by chairman HEC.
