Hindu Festival Raksha Bandhan Celebrated in Peshawar

Hindu religious festival “Raksha Bandhan” was celebrated in Peshawar. During this festival, sisters tie rakhi to brothers and received gifts from brothers.

Raksha Bandhan is a festival in Hindu religion in which sisters express their love from their brothers by tying rakhi on the wrists of their brothers. According to Hindu religion, the roots of this festival are thousands years old while it is celebrated in the month of August.

In Peshawar, this religious festival was celebrated in Kali Bari temple. Apart from performing religious duties, prayers for national progress were also made. On that occasion, sisters prayed for long life of their brothers and the brothers promised to protect their sisters.

People of Hindu community say that Pakistan achieved independence in August due to which the happiness of this festival increases for them.
