The team from the SparkFun Electronics has created the robot to crack the safe. They bought SentrySafe safe before the start of the Def Con convention and took them for the demonstration. The robot was able to open the safe in 30 minutes on stage and crack its combination of 51.36.93.

Cracking Combination

The robot has reduced million of combinations to 1000 before going to try the leftover ones. The homemade robot was cost for $200 to build with the use of magnets to attach to exterior of safe and it is run by Arduino micro controller.

The safe locking mechanism is added with three dials to need to be aligned for safe to be opened. Each dial be of two digit number, which means one million potential combinations.
