Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating irregularities in 13 projects of Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MOITT) that were funded by Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). The total allocation of these 13 programs was Rs. 1.555 billion and these projects were given to National Information Technology Board (NITB) of the IT Ministry.

The inquiry in one such project of “E-services at CDA” with Rs. 175 billion cost has been completed in which the national exchequer suffered the loss of Rs. 140 million. It was told by Director FIA Mazhar ul Haq as he was briefing the Senate Standing Committee on IT & Telecommunication on Thursday. The agency informed the committee that there were irregularities in the project and FIA has recommended registration of FIR against four officials that were involved in the negligence. For this CDA project, the software and hardware were acquired but never used and no one is taking responsibility. FIA is investigating the other 12 projects as well.

It was also told by FIA that they have received around 7,500 complaints regarding to blasphemy on social media but most of these were false and FIA so far registered just 3 FIRs on these complaints. FIA can trace such cases by using forensic facilities and their abilities but monitoring them is beyond their responsibility.
