A local solution for cellular customers’ biometric verification has been developed by KWICK technologies. This firm specializes in manufacturing of SIM and based in Islamabad.

It should be noted that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has ordered that only after the biometric verification of the customers, the cellular connections in Sindh and Baluchistan will be done.

During next phase, similar measures for biometric verification will also be taken for Punjab and KPK.

Through biometric verification system, the thumb impressions of customers are matched with NADRA database to ensure their identity before the issuance of new SIM.

In Sindh and Baluchistan currently, new SIMs are only sold through biometric verification by all cellular centers, retail outlets and franchises.

Through the Biometric SIM Verification system of KWICK, the telecommunication companies will be able to properly verify a buyer before selling SIMS.

The aim of this process is to prevent the use of irregular cellular connections and unregistered SIMs.

The biometric verification device is efficient, easy to use and light weight, according to KWICK. The solution comprised of a biometric device to obtain customer’s fingerprints and an Android based device. The application is easy to navigate and user-friendly.
