Chicago, The experts in University of Illinois, Chicago, America have prepared such a solar cell, which can make the fuel with the use of sunlight. It absorbs the carbon dioxide from the air and uses the sunlight to convert it into usable fuel directly. The solar cell copies the process, which is carried out in the leaf.
There are different solar cells, which can convert the sunlight into electricity directly and it can be saved in the batteries. The experts, who are associated with the department of energy, they were busy in the preparation of the solar cells copying the leaves from last many years. But they did not meaningful successful till now.
The new solar cell prepares the fuel (Hydrocarbon) from the sunlight directly and it removes the necessity of the batteries and it also solves the issue of pollution after absorbing the carbon dioxide from the air. According to the experts of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Illinois, Chicago, this is not the photo voltaic solar cell but you can say it ‘Photosynthetic cell’ rightly.
The leaves of the plants prepares their fuel in form of glucose but this new solar cell, ‘Syngas’ prepares the fuel in form of ‘photosynthetic gas’, which is the combination of Hydrogen and Carbon Mono Oxide. The Syngas can be burnt directly or it can be converted into diesel or any other hydrocarbon fuel and it can be used in the vehicles.
To make possible the new solar cell, there is special role of the chemical compound (Gestalt). The first writer of the research paper said that this composition is 1000 times faster than the Noble Metal Catalysts and it is 20 times less expensive. The experts have applied to get the patent of this unique solar cell.
