NASA: Pluto May Have Huge Ocean Under Icy Surface

+

The scientists have found that there is huge ocean, which is hidden under the frozen surface of the planet, Pluto. It is reported in the papers that there is much water under the ice on this planet, which is equal to the seas of the earth and there can be chances of life.

New Horizons spacecraft of NASA has done the observation and it has done the unprecedented flyby of dwarf planet and the scientists say that the ocean is 62 miles deep under the ice and it is believed that it can be located at 93 to 124 miles beneath the crust of the planet. The planetary scientist and project researcher, of Massachusetts Institute of Technology said that Pluto was not the suitable choice for life as the ocean on this planet is covered with lot of ice.

The research scholar on planetary, of University of California said that Pluto  has plenty of rock having lot of heat being generated and the ice shell is located few hundred kilometers, which is good insulator. The computer models show the basin likely filled with ice and it turned this planet in dwarf planet to roll on its axis and if Pluto possesses a subsurface ocean, then it can happen.
