The Directorate General Immigration and Passport has announced the unique E-Passport system and the people can get the E-Passport within two months. The DG of Passport and Immigration has made this announcement, when he was giving the briefing to Standing Committee on Interior of National Assembly. New E-Passport System in Pakistan in 2 Months.

The DG Passport briefed the parliamentary body about performance of new system and he said that the system has been developed at cost of Rs.534 million and it can be described as secure, clean and fully automated. The new system is worked with the particular chip, which can help to improve the security. The DG passport said that the department would run new and old systems simultaneously. He also said that the fee of E-Passport is little bit more than regular passport. He further said that there is increasing demand and the department is looking for allocation of Rs.244.73 million to set up regional passport offices in Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Bannu, Sukkur, Muzaffarabad and Abbottabad. The department will spend Rs.150 million on Immigration Passport Complex (IPPASS) out of total allocation.
