Nokia to Stop Shipment of Symbian Mobile Phones

According to the quarterly reports announced earlier this year it seemed very clear that Nokia will not be shipping Symbian anymore and will be focusing more on Microsoft Windows Phone.

It has been confirmed as well from Nokia that Symbians will not be shipped from now onwards.  It has been decided from Nokia that they will keep on supporting Symbian devices till 2016 though it is expected most likely that no updates will take place meanwhile.

This is not a surprise that Nokia has decided not to continue Symbians anymore because the sales of Symbian phones were very disappointing and the reason for continuing these phones were their camera quality of N8 and 808 as compared to Microsoft Windows Phone.

The number of Symbian Mobile Phones sold last year was 0.5 Million as compared to the sales of Windows Phones which was 5.6 Million (Lumia and 5 Million Asha Devices).

Nokia was left on the option of Windows Phones as it discarded the Operating Systems of the phones. It’s not all over even if that idea fails because Nokia has given hints of introducing Android running devices making a statement that they haven’t shut the doors for them. You cannot help even if you are not a Symbian fan but will be focused on the news as this has been important part of our technological live.
