Old Currency Notes Change last date

+

Bank notes remain in the business for long time and then they are replaced completely with time. The same thing is going to happen in Pakistan also as the old and bigger currency notes have been replaced by new ones and they will not be available for use after 30th November 2016. The reasons for replacement of notes are mentioned below.

Durability & Design Improvement

Improvement in security, aesthetic quality and durability are the main reasons behind issues of currency notes of new design by State Bank of Pakistan. After 30th November 2016, banks will not accept old design banknotes. This applies to older design notes of 10, 50, 100 and 1000 rupees. But SBP will accept these notes till 31st December 2021 even with their in acceptance by other banks.

These old currency notes are now very little in use. In 2008, the govt. issued new designed notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 rupees. After some time, Rs. 5 note was replaced by coin of Rs. 5. Currently, a new and smaller golden colored Rs. 5 coin has been introduced.

No 10 Rupee Coin

Earlier this year, there were rumors that a new 10 rupee coin will come that will be approved in August 31, 2016 but it didn’t happen so far.

Coins are not only harder to keep as compared to notes but they also symbolize the currency devaluation. But the coin is more durable and secure than paper currency.
