In Pakistan, OLX is the most famous public market place. It has made a place as a major player in the area as it is an easy option for both buyer and seller even if they don’t know much about technology. It enabled common citizens to buy and sell commodities with ease.
New Issue Faced by Real Sellers
But the situation has changed recently in Pakistan. According to reports, it’s difficult for common buyer or seller to get a place in OLX Pakistan now. Like other problems, now spamming has also made OLX useless for most of the Pakistanis.
Few users told us that very few people view their products and it’s almost impossible for them to sell their products on OLX. This problem is especially present on pages of Lahore and Karachi. With hundreds of duplicate ads every day, local businesses are now spamming the pages.

Things like unique descriptions, original picture and one ad per item makes verification process difficult for original users but it seems these businesses have found a way to bypass this verification process as they are posting many ads in a single day.
It is seen after investigation that 20 to 40 spam ads are posted every hour in a day which means 400 ads every day while a common user can refresh his ad once in a week. The spamming process starts from morning and continues till mid night after which it slows a bit. You can also see services like AC installations in these spam ads.
Advice for OLX
Despite several complaints from users, OLX is not doing anything to stop these spam ads by banning the spammers through tough verification system. OLX has to solve this issue quickly otherwise its place with be taken by any other company with better security measures.
OLX should start a new system of rating through which customers with better record gets more promotion than the newcomers. Due to absence of rating system, spammers are getting more chance in the system.
Even a single bad experience can ruin a good company like OLX from many of its customers.
Advice for Businesses
In the selling section, many businesses adding things to buy which is useless as people are not checking selling section to buy things.
The spammers on OLX should realize that they are harming a good service through their actions. In case of increase in spam, most of the users will leave the service that will be bad for them also.
We would say to these businesses to end spamming the website and post their ads in the right sections that will create positive attitude towards the users of OLX.
