The Orange Line Metro Train project is installed in Lahore across the city connecting different parts of the city with each other and it has provided the traveling facilities to the local people. The project has been completed and it has started its trial run on 26 February 2018. This metro train will provide the commute to total 250,000 passengers of this city on the daily basis. The OLMT project is going to be completed very soon and it has the capacity to carry huge number of passengers every day.
This project has been delayed for long time and now it is going to be completed very soon. There are some of the people, who complained that the project was choked off the big business points in the city like Lakshami chowk and the areas around GPO. The trial run of the metro train was done on 26 February and the advisor to the CM was also present on this occasion. He announced four more train sets for 27.1 km long orange line project. The government of Pakistan said that the 12 km long portion of the track, which is spread from Dera Gujran to Lakshami Chowk and it will be completed during this week.
Lahore High Court took up the case against this project and it was delayed for 22 months on the fears that it threatened some of the historical buildings in the city and the constructions work was stopped on this project. On 08 December 2017, the Supreme Court of Pakistan passed the ruling that the construction work on the project should be resumed and the staff has been working day and night to complete this mega project.
