Pak Sharia Court Approves Test Tube Babies with Conditions

In a recent ruling, Pakistan’s Federal Shariat Court has approved the birth of test tube babies in Pakistan but with the condition that sperm and egg could only be taken from legitimate husband and wife respectively.

Chief Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan was heading the full bench that was hearing the case related to acceptance of test tube babies in Islam.

It is said in the decision that external environment can be used to conceive a baby but the couple has to be married according to the Islamic law.

The ruling described that egg or sperm of from any other person can’t be taken for test tune baby if any partner is unable to get pregnancy. The court said that this is completely illegal in Islam.

 

The ruling added that science, modern machines and medicines can be used to make babies if the partners are legitimately married.

Court said that Pakistani government legislative changes should be made according to this current decision by shariah Court in which test tube babies are allowed in special cases only and the people will be considered criminals if they conceive test tube baby without following the given orders.

It is also mentioned in the order that sperm banks, egg banks and surrogates will not be allowed now and action should be taken according to law in case of any breakage of law.
