The production of motorcycle in the country is reached to the highest level with 2.07 million units, which are produced during the year 2014-15, which is 16.54% more than the previous year.
The latest data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows that total 2,071,123 units of the motorcycles were manufactured in the country during this year and there were total 1,777251 units built during the period of 2013-14.
According to the detailed report, there are over 60 motorcycle manufacturing companies in Pakistan and Honda is still leading the market with the notable margin of production of motorcycles. The manufacturers of motorcycle are producing over 172,000 motorcycles per month on average and it shows the rapid increase in the use of motorcycle.
The experts said that the motorcycle production has the double digit growth and it indicates the middle class is growing faster now than the recent times. Various local merchandises have introduced the easy installment plans for the provision of motorcycle on lease and this is another reason for the rapid increase in the motorcycle production.
They need to mention that there are local retail outlets to offer lease of the motorcycle with installments, which is going as low as Rs.2000 per month. The experts foresee that this growth in the production of motorcycle will increase during the years to come and our current road infrastructure in urban centers is not ready for the coming rush of the motorcycles on the roads.
The increase in the use of motorcycle without suitable training and license and with the growing overall traffic can result in increase in the accidents during the recent past years. the experts also said that the time has come the motor cyclist can be trained in strict manner to ensure the safety of themselves and other people on the road and decrease the possibility of road accidents.
In the developing country like Pakistan, the idea for the preparation of the separate roads or lanes for motorcycle is not possible yet as there is urban infrastructure great hurdle there. The concerned authorities must take proper action and measures to ensure the safety of the motorcyclists and avoid the threat to themselves on the busy urban roads across the country.
