HEC Prime Minister Laptop Scheme 2017

Lahore, Higher Education Commission will distribute about 2 lakhs laptops in the phase IV and V of the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme among the students of the government sector universities and the degree awarding educational institutes. The candidates can apply for the laptops till the final date of 30 September 2017.

The laptop scheme was started in 2013-14 and one lakh laptops were awarded to the students and it was decided that total one lakh laptops will be awarded to the students during every financial year of government. This is the last year of the Punjab government and this government has decided to distribute remaining 2 lakhs laptops in 2017-2018. The government has already distributed 3 lakhs laptops in the educational years of 2013-2014, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 in its phase 1, 2 and 3.

The former prime minister of Pakistan started the laptop scheme and it was decided that total 5 lakhs laptops will be distributed among MPhil and PhD aspirants in total 4 years but only 3 lakhs laptops have been distributed till now. Now it is decided that 2 lakhs laptops will be awarded during last year to complete the target of 5 lakh laptops.

First the laptops were awarded to the government colleges and university to the MPhil and PhD students and after that the technical colleges were also included and the laptops were awarded to the BS level candidates. The distant learning universities like Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University were also selected for this laptop awarding scheme.
