Project of Battery Made by Glass Bottles

California, The useless glass bottles are used in the special ovens to get melt there and the raw glass is prepared from these glass bottles. Now the experts of University of California Riverside (UCR) have prepared the durable battery with the use of these recycled bottles.

The lithium ion batteries provide electricity from our smart phones to the cars. Traditionally, lithium cathode and graphite anode is used in these batteries. Now silicon, received from these glass bottles is used to make anode of the batteries. Silicon has 10 times more energy saving capacity than granite and the anodes made up of these silicon granite are not durable and they break with the time. It is necessary to crush the silicon in advance.

The experts of University of California Riverside break these glass bottles and they prepared the fine powder. After this, the silicon dioxide was changed into nano structure through the hot magnesium and in the final stage, the layer of carbon was given on it. With this they became stronger and they have more capacity to deposit more electricity.

After that the experts made a button cell with it and they tried it till 400 cycles. The capacity of the battery of silicon anode of bottle was seen 1420 mAh while normal battery has the capacity of about 350 mAh. The head of the research team of the project said that they selected the garbage, which fills the garbage stores and it is called glass and its bottles. The silicon batteries get charged soon and they can be proved more durable and lasting if compared to button batteries. These batteries will take the place of traditional lithium batteries. According to the experts, the hundred of button cells are made through one glass bottle and now he is trying to get patent his invention.
