Samsung Stands on Second in Top Researchers Companies List

Samsung ranked 2nd overall last year, according to a new report on companies that spent most on Research and Development. On its future projects the Korean company spent $10.4 billion. Than the German car company which came first, it is $1 billion less.

Samsung’s primary competitors, like Apple, were not even close. Only Nokia and Sony managed to climb on 18th and 20th position, respectively. Nokia managed a 14.4% plunge in the money spent on this category this year, with $6.1 billion.

4th and 5th positions were achieved by Intel and Microsoft, respectively while Google with $6.8 billion could only reach 12th.

But important thing is that the money these companies spent, not only include mobile phones but also everything they make. For example, Samsung makes everything from Refrigerators to TV. Also the difference amongst them isn’t really that much as some companies have spent more on research than others.

Globally, the overall spend on R&D is $638 billion. 74% of overall growth in spending includes Auto, Software and Internet, and Health sectors. 13 positions out of 20 are grabbed by technology companies.
