Slow Video Streaming Issues in Pakistan to Solve

Slow Video Streaming Issues in Pakistan to Solve

The local internet service provides or ISPs get some complaints regularly about the advertised speed for the internet connection and the video of the user would not stream. This issue is remained with facebook, twitter and other social media websites to stream the videos. The real problem lies with streaming provider and the respective CDNs of the social media website.

What is CDN and How is it at fault?

The CDN or the Content Delivery Network is the system, which is developed with the distributed servers and it delivers the webpages and other contents on the website to end user. The content providers place the CDNs like broadcasting, social media giants and the top TV companies at different geographical locations depend on number of users in that area or the amount of data, which is used in that particular area. The social media networks and video sharing platforms like Google, facebook and YouTube do not have enough CDNs in Pakistan.

It means that Pakistani users can have access to the data from CDN of other country or region and from Singapore or Europe and majority of cases face this issue while accessing the websites from Pakistan. The CDNs are handling the data in the relevant regions and it can get overloaded when it is designed with the specific volume of data and is capable of handling more data, which can result into endless video buffering and low quality videos to see on facebook, YouTube and other sites.

When you access the CDNs in other countries, it will cause higher delay than the CDN, which is working in Pakistan. The video quality is most commonly uses the adaptive bit rate streaming and it means a longer time to load the video and more time to buffer and it will take more time to improve the stream quality. Most of the videos start at the Standard Definition quality and it gradually increases to HD as the client senses that more bandwidth is provided here.

(Hint: if the Netflix video stream quality is not good, then you stop it and start the stream once again with the use of pause and unpause or rewind the several seconds and they play it. Then they should wait for30 seconds to a minute for improvement in quality. The delay and ramp up to the higher quality streaming is caused by latency in reaching far end streaming server.)

How Storm Fiber Fix it

Storm Fiber is the local ISP and it has taken the step to resolve this issue by working closely to the social media giants like YouTube and Netflix to place their relevant CDNs in Pakistan.

Some giants like YouTube has already placed their CDNs and it increases its capacity constantly as the traffic of StormFiber is growing. There are some other companies like Akamai, which is the largest CDN provider across the world and they are in process of the infrastructure with Stormfiber. It will fix the issue of overloading other CDNs and it also reduces the latency users experience when they load the steams and improve experience of watching HD and 4K stream.
