Supermoon view 2016 in Pakistan

Like other parts of the world, extraordinary large and clear “Supermoon” was also sighted in Pakistan also.

Size of moon has nothing to do with your fortune but it is a natural process which happens when the moon is at the minimum distance from earth and it is also visible as crescent or full moon.

The experts say that the ‘supermoon’ seen on the sky between the night of 14^th and 15^th November 2016 was 14% larger and 30% brighter than the ‘micromoon’.

Previously, the last ‘supermoon’ was seen on 26^th January 1948 which is almost 69 years ago while the next supermoon will be seen on 25^th November 2034 and it will be even bigger than this one because the distance between earth and moon during that ‘supermoon’ will be ever lesser.

The supermoon was seen in Pakistan at 6:52 pm while it remained on the sky with full glory till 10 pm. According to Pakistani time, the distance between earth and moon at 4:15 was only 356,508 km which is 27,992 km less than their average distance.

Reason for Appearance of Supermoon

Moon is revolving around earth but its orbit around earth is not round shaped but it is elliptical. Due to this reason, the average distance between moon and earth is 384,500 km but due to its elliptical orbit, it can reach at a maximum distance of 405,504 km which is known as ‘apogee’. In contrary, the minimum distance between moon and earth is 363,396 km which is called ‘perigee’. We can say that the difference of distance between apogee and perigee is 42,108 km. due to this, even a new moon is seen relatively larger in size during perigee.

The experts say that the distance of moon from earth reduces after every 14 full moons during which it seems larger than normal but ‘supermoon’ happens once after several years. The important thing during that occasion is to keep away from superstitions and use this process to understand natural system.
