Top 1000 Universities Of The World

There are some of the research organizations, which carry out study of different factors of the education in the universities of the world and they manage the ranking of the world universities. These factors show the worth of the universities. There are only 4 Pakistani universities, which are included in top 1000 world universities. This is very disappointing situation as last year, there were 7 universities, which were included in the top 1000 universities of the world. This is very alarming situation as government failed to concentrate on development of education and it proved that education is not their top priority.

The report of this year is prepared by Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds and they showed that Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad is the top Pakistani university, which is included in the top 1000 universities of the world and it is present in the band between 401-500. There are three other universities like COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, which are included in top 1000 world universities. The COMSATS and NUST are included in the group from 601-800 universities and University of Agriculture Faisalabad is included in 801+ group. The situation of the world class universities in Pakistan is not satisfactory and it needs due attention so that they can improve quality education.

When you check the report of THE, you will find that Oxford University UK is the world top university while University of Cambridge UK is present at the second world class university. The Stanford University USA and California Institute of Technology are present at the 3rd position in the world top 1000 universities.

When we look at our neighbor countries, we find that China has 60 universities, India has 30 universities and Iran has 11 universities in the world top 1000 universities.

The Global Rankings Editorial Director of Times Higher Education said that the less number of Pakistani universities in world top 1000 universities is very disappointing. He said that the main reason is lack of funding in the Pakistani universities. It is also sad situation that the federal and provincial governments of Pakistan did not pay attention on the development and improvement of education standard in Pakistan and education is not their top priority. However, QAU, NUST and COMSATS improved their status despite of their limited resources.
