Toyota is the biggest automotive player across the world and it has provided a smart box, which the users can use it as the car key through their smart phones.
This is the small Bluetooth enable device and it is called ‘Smart Key Box’, which can be installed on the dashboard of car. Then this smart box can be connected to the smart phone through Bluetooth and they can unlock or start the car through the use of this app. The company says that there is no special modification, which is required for the device to carry on its working.
Toyota has developed its device for the car sharing and the idea behind this device that the vehicle owners can lend their cars to other people easily and they do not need to hand over the keys of the vehicle to the people. Simply they need to share a code from the app to the person, who is lending the car and that person can use code to connect to Smart Key Box through Bluetooth, when they come close to the car.

They need to set the time and period to access the Smart Key Box and Toyota manage this key box and it is based on the reservation of the vehicle.
The company plans to start the car sharing program with the limited pilot in San Francisco next year by making the partnership with Getaround, which is the peer-to-peer car sharing service. Initially, the program will be started for the owners of the latest Prius or other models like Lexus.
