Dawn Media Group launched this channel, Dawn news on May 25, 2007. Initially this channel started its transmission in English language but the viewership of this channel was very small and the channel had also faced some financial problems, so it was decided that this channel should be changed in to Urdu language on May 15, 2010. This channel is a 24 hours Urdu news channel and the base of this channel was set up in Karachi.

The test transmissions of this channel were launched by the former president of Pakistan, Pervaiz Musharraf and the Dawn Media Group is producing this channel. This channel continued its transmission in the English language for three years and during this time, this channel established its credibility and responsibility. This channel produced various programs and shows on different occasions, which got popularity among people. These shows are News Night with Talat, A Taste of Fusion, Mast Morning with Maria, Khabardar, Sports Zone, No Reservation, Maximum Masala and many more.
