Geo Television is a Pakistan television channel, which has been established in May 2002. Independent Media Corporation has launched this channel and this channel started test transmission on August 14, 2002. This channel started its regular transmission on October 01, 2002. This channel also started various other channels, Geo Super, Geo News, AAG TV and Geo Tez, which are broadcasting their transmission of entertainment, sports and other news and current affair programs.

Most of the programs like capital talk, Aj Kamran Khan kay sath, Jawabdeh, Aik Din Geo k sath and various other programs are popular among its viewership. This channel won various awards on its various programs and documentaries. The documentary on the water scarcity in the Indus river got the special prize of HSH Prince Ranier III at the Monty Carlo TV festivals. This channel was also awarded with special award during 2005 on the Nouticaslo TV festival. On April 20, 2004, the chief executive of the Geo TV, Mir Ibrahim Rehman won the International Broadcast Excellence award for the impact of channel in Pakistan. Its program Masala won the lifestyle award in 2009.
The website of this channel was hacked by ‘Z hacking Crew’, which is a hacktivist group on February 16, 2003. This notorious hacktivist group also hacked the Indian website and defaced them on some political ground.
