6th Asia Young Leaders Program 2019

The applications are invited from the eligible candidates to apply for fully funded 6th Asia Young Leaders program 2019 being held in Taiwan, which is managed by Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD). The students should note that this is the international leadership programs, which aims to invite the candidates having age range from 18 to 35 year across the world having any nationality. The candidates note that there is no requirement of IELTS or any language test.

Taiwan Foundation for Democracy is aimed at to establish Asia Young Leaders for Democracy program (AYLD) in order to strengthen democracy in Asia through the collaboration of the young people. They empower them through the lectures, discussions and visits of site every year and this program will be held from 20 to 26th August 2019.

The candidates, who have the age range from 18 to 35 and they have any academic background, they are will be considered eligible but the educational credentials are not required. The candidates must have little or enough knowledge about the democracy and human rights. The democracy is backsliding from 2018 to 2019 and there are different norms like extremism, uncontrolled populism and disinformation are destroying the society and it also destroys the spaces of meaningful and inclusive dialogue.

With the use of technology, the authoritarian regimes are able to tighten the controls domestically and they also project their influence internationally. We must enhance resilience of democracy in order to support democracy so that it can face these challenges. Now the program of this year will work with the participants to innovate the inclusive approaches of the participation of the people and it also helps to encourage the dialogue.

The program will offer inter disciplinary lectures and workshops to build up the capacity of the participants in order to save the democracy.

Financial Coverage

6th Asia Young Leaders program 2019 is fully funded and all expenses are covered for the program and it will also cover following expenses.

  • The TFD will cover round trip airfares to Taiwan (economy  class)
  • Airport shuttle bus
  • Meals
  • Accommodation
  • Visa costs of the participants of the program during entire program
  • The participants will be reimbursed after completion of the program.
  • The participants will be awarded with small stipend in return for submission of written report of the program.

Program Location

The 6th AYLD will be held at the TFD headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants can be the policy maker, legal, professional, academic and leader of civil society organizations like representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations, legislative assistants and media.

The applicants should be in the range of ages from 18 to 35 years and they should have some work experience in field of democracy and human rights promotion. The applicants must attend the program during this time.

The official language of the program is English and the participants should have solid command of written and spoken English.

The academic credentials are not necessary and it is crucial for the participants to have enough knowledge in democracy and human rights advocacy, which is necessary to participate in the program. The participants are required to submit the written reports at the end of the program.


The candidates will submit the application forms for 6th Asia Young Leaders program 2019 by the closing date of 30th April 2019 and the result will be announced during June, this year.
