Android Wear Smartwatches Can Now Find Your Missing Phone

For supporting Android Wear smartwatches, Google has updated its phone locating service, Android Device Manager. To understand, the users can now find their lost phones through their Android Wear smartwatches.

If the device is powered on then the users can find the location of their phone with Android Device Manager through location service, lock the phone, make it ring or even erase all data of user on this device. For those users who misplace their devices can now easily find them through this service.

The user only has to select the “Find my phone” option from the start menu of smartwatch or directly say, “OK Google. Start. Find my phone” to find a lost Android device. This process will send a command to Android phone to ring at full volume which will be helpful to find the phone in case it is anywhere near.

The users can easily enable this feature by just installing Android Device Manager on their Android device. The users can easily download this app from the Play Store while it comes as pre installed on some phones.
Even if a user doesn’t have a smartwatch, installing this app will be helpful for him. In case of stolen device, this app will help in finding the device and it will at least erase the whole personal data to prevent it from going to wrong hands if it could not trace the location of device. According to Google, this service has helped 30 million people to find their Android devices since August 2013 when the service was launched. The usefulness of the service is evident from this number.
All Android smartwatches don’t contain this feature so far. But the users don’t have to perform any action to get this service on their smartwatches. In the upcoming weeks, Google itself will enable it as a silent update to all smartwatches.
