Armed Forces To Head The CPEC projects Again

The Government of Pakistan decides to give the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the authority of military forces. Nikki Asia reported recently in this regard that government has passed a legislation to hand over the CPEC to Armed forces. The CPEC Authority Bill 2020 was passed in December 2020. The leading lawmakers of the country opposed the bill. According to Parliamentary Committee Chairman, Junaid Akber will be presented before the parliament for the final favor in the second week of December 2020.

The CPEC Authority Law was passed to restore the CPEC Authority, which was expired in May 2020 after the end of Presidential order. After passing, the legislation will transfer the full command and control of the CPEC projects to the Armed forces. The Ministry of Planning and Development will transfer the control of the projects to CPEC Authority chaired by Asim Saleem Bajwa. Asim Saleem Bajwa will reportedly will be a new chairman of the new Pak China Joint Committee.
