Dr Sania Nishtar is the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation said that the government will support the poor and needy people of the society during the coronavirus lockdown, which the government has to enforce to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.  Coronavirus Lockdown affected people Receive Rs.12,000 Each.

The federal government has approved the ‘Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program’ in order to support 10 million Pakistani people. Through this program, the amount of Rs.12,000 will be distributed to each person and the whole amount will be distributed among 10 million people. It is estimated that about 67 million people will get the benefit from this emergency relief program.

According to the detailed information, the emergency programs will offer Rs.3000 to each family over next four months. Total 10 million people have been divided into three different categories:

  • 4.5 million existing Ehsaas Kafaalat beneficiaries
  • 3 million people who earned Rs.20,000 or less before the lockdown.
  • 2.5 million people will be selected by Ehsaas SMS route.

The national socio economic database helps the authorities to in the identification of 3 million people. The government has started their SMS campaign, which establishes the eligibility of the 2.5 million people. The government will use data analytics to ensure that the program is transparent. The government has made the decision to enforce the precautionary measures at cash distribution sites and it is added with the disinfectants and hand washing, new currency note and the distancing in the queues.
