The inauguration ceremony of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2nd edition’s trophy was held in Dubai while the event was attended by the captains of all the 5 participating teams of PSL.
During the ceremony, PSL chairman Najam Sethi said that 50,000 crystals are used in the preparation of this trophy and the name given to it is “Spirit Trophy”. This beautiful and unique trophy is prepared by world’s best company.
Like the 1st edition of PSL, Najam Sethi was hopeful about the success of its 2nd edition. The chairman said that they are trying to restart cricket in Pakistan through PSL as the final of PSL’s 2nd edition will be played in Lahore. It was also told by Najam Sethi that three other trophies will also be present in the tournament apart from “winner’s trophy”. This include “Haneef Muhammad Trophy” for best batsman, “Imtiaz Ahmed Trophy” for best wicketkeeper and “Fazal Mehmood Trophy” for best bowler.
Last year’s champion team Islamabad United’s captain Misbah ul Haq said that they will again try to play good cricket and win the tournament as they are very confident after winning the 1st edition of PSL and due to their perfect team combination. Last year’s runner up team Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfraz Ahmed said that they will try their best to win the trophy this year by playing good cricket as they just missed the trophy last year.
Kumar Sangakkara, B McCullum and Darren Sammy are new captains of Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi and they also expressed their hope to win the trophy this year by playing good cricket.
