The Government of Japan and Goi Peace Foundation is going to conduct the International Essay Competition 2019 and the candidates, who want to participate in this competition, they will send their application forms having age from 15 to 25 years from all countries and having any nationality. No participation fee is charged from the applying candidates.
The main purpose of the Annual Essay Competition is an effort to maintain the creativity, energy and initiative of the youth of the world to promote culture of peace and sustainable development. It helps to inspire society to learn from young and energetic minds to think how each of us makes the difference in the world.
Youth having the age from 15 to 25 years and children having age up to 14 are encouraged to participate in International Essay Competition 2019. The winners of this competition will be invited in the award ceremony, which will be managed in Tokyo, Japan on 23 November 2019. You need to read the following details.

About Essay Theme
Create Society Full of Kindness: What does “Kindness” mean to you? How do you think we can create kind society?
Carry out ten acts of kindness, and then use your experience as inspiration in writing your essay (your essay does not need to be about your acts of kindness)
Awards & Prizes
The following awards will be awarded to children and Youth category respectively:
1st Prize: Certificate, a prize of 100,000 Yen (approx. US$900 as of Feb. 2019) … 1 entrant
2nd Prize: Certificate, a prize of 50,000 Yen (approx. US$450 as of Feb. 2019) and gift … 2 entrants
3rd Prize: Certificate and gift … 5 entrants
Honorable Mention: Certificate and gift … 25 entrants
1st prize winners will be invited to award ceremony being held in Tokyo, Japan on 23 November 2019, and will receive the Minister of Education Award. (the organizer will manage travel expenses of award winners.)
Additional awards (Recognition for Effort, Best School Award, School Incentive Award) will be given if applicable.
All prize winners will be announced on October 31, 2019, on this website. Certificates and gifts will be mailed to the winners in December 2019.
Rules & Regulations
International Essay Competitions for university students as well as for Children.
Anyone can submit Essays up to 25 years old (as of June 15, 2019) in one of the following age categories: a) Children (ages up to 14) b) Youth (ages 15 – 25)
Essays must be comprised of 700 words or less in the international languages like English, French, Spanish or German, or 1600 characters or less in Japanese, excluding essay title and cover page. The participants should type or get printed the essays.
Essays must be original and unpublished and the plagiarized entries will be rejected.
Essays must be written by one person. The essays written by the co-authored are not accepted.
Copyright of the essays entered will be assigned to the organizer.
