We usually don’t much care about roads and infrastructures especially with the purpose to decorate them. Most of the routes are very dull. But the new underpass at Drigh Road, Sharah-e-Faisal, Karachi is quite different as it has been recently inaugurated.
Shaheed Munawwar Suharwardi Underpass is the name given to this underpass that was inaugurated on Saturday 22nd July 2017. 250 meter is the length of this underpass which has been completed 15 days before its estimated time. The project is completed in less than 4 months and total cost of the project is Rs. 660 million. Before its inauguration, the decoration of the project has also been completed. It is also told in public announcement that there is an efficient drainage system in the underpass which will prevent accumulation of rainwater in the underpass.
CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto inaugurated the underpass. The reconstruction of the Drigh Road flyover was also announced by CM on that occasion. The CM also said during the occasion that government is trying to improve the city of Karachi with construction of flyovers, roads, underpasses and also by cleaning the city.
It seems that the provincial government is trying to build its image in the eyes of people of Karachi after ignoring it in most part of its government in the past 4 years.
