NADRA Identifies 13,000 Fake Family Members

July 1st, 2016 is the starting date of re-verification of CNICs by the National Database Regulatory Authority. The citizens can use this system to verify their family members. The purpose to re-verify the CNICs is to know about any such illegal person registered under the family tree of any Pakistani citizen.

The step was taken by government due to several such incidents in which citizens of neighboring countries acquiring CNICs of Pakistan which created panic among the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan.

Till now, around 13000 complaints have been registered by citizens for presence of unknown person/s in their family tree.

Details about NADRA CNIC Re-Verification Program

Interior Minister CH Nisar ordered to start this six month long CNIC re-verification process in order to remove illegal persons, obtaining Pakistani passports and CNICs, from Pakistani database due to concerns of national security.

The minister appreciated the response of nation during a meeting. It was told that the SMS service was used by more than 400,000 people for re-verification of their family record in database.

This special meeting was also attended by senior official of interior ministry including interior secretary, special interior secretary and NADRA Chairman.

Identify Unregistered People in Your Family Tree via NADRA Re-verification

The purpose of easy re-verification of CNICs through SMS was to save the citizens from facing problem of visiting NADRA offices. You can send your CNIC through SMS to 8008 to re-verify your family tree.

After sending this SMS, NADRA will give you record of people registered under your family tree and you can easily know about any alien person through this record.

Complete secrecy will be ensured by NADRA for those persons who tell them about unknown persons in their family tree. Further reports about this procedure will be known soon.
