Punjab Leading over Cyberbullying Cases Report

The Digital Rights Foundation reported the statistics, which they collection through their Cyber Harassment helpline that most of the cases of cyber bullying in Pakistan are reported in Punjab. The data of DRF shows that during the first four months of the operations, there are 513 queries, which were made through their helpline to get registered the complaints. There were total 535 calls and 62% out of these complaints are reported by the women.

It was revealed that facebook was on the top of list of social media website that people faced the cases of harassment and hatred. DRF found most of the complaints were concerned with fake profiles and the UN-authorization of the information, hacking of social media and blackmailing. The data shows that 41.3% of the cases are received through the authority from Punjab and 23.9% of the individuals did not show their location. The data concerning the percentage of the complaints was received through the anti harassment hotline from other provinces.

The helpline is started as the dedicated platform in order to support the people, who face online abuse through the confidential services. It also helps to provide the digital security support, legal advice and therapy, which is provided to the victims.
