State Bank of Pakistan has started the SMS services to provide fresh currency notes to the general public through its subsidiary banking services corporations (SBP BSC).

The people should note that the booking of this service is started from 19 May and the provision of the fresh currency notes will be started from 20 May 2019 and it will be continued till 31 May 2019. Any individual can avail the service by getting 3 packets of Rs.10/- and 1 packet each of Rs.50/- and Rs.100/-.

From the designated commercial bank branches called ‘e-branches’ will provide the fresh currency notes and there are sixteen field offices of SBP BSC. The service will be offered to the people through 1702 e-branches and 16 SBP BSC offices in 142 cities all over Pakistan in order to cover maximum geographical coverage.

A person can send the SMS message, which is added with 13 digits CNIC / smart card Number and desired e-branch ID to short code 8877. The charges of the service are Rs.1.50/- plus tax for per SMS.

2 Days Validity Time to Collect New Currency Notes

The person will get SMS, which is added with redemption code, e-branch address and the period of code validity.

The customer will receive the redemption code, which will be valid for two working days on the dates mentioned in the SMS. Then the customer will approach to t he concerned e-branch with his/her original CNIC / Smart Card and the copy of the CNIC / Smart card and transaction code received from 8877 to get the fresh currency notes.

It is notified that each CNIC / Smart card number or the mobile phone number can be used once. The senders will not receive the transaction code in case he / she sends same CNIC / Smart card number from different mobile numbers or sends the different CNIC / Smart Card numbers from same mobile number during the provision of this service.
